This week we are celebrating the communion service – a time to reflect on what the death of Christ means for Christians.  Matthew recorded that at the death of Jesus many tombs were split open and when he was raised on the Sunday morning many saints also rose from the dead. This must have been quite a strange experience for those who had died, and those who recognised these people when they came into Jerusalem. This additional resurrection was further evidence that Christ rose from the dead – and promises us that we will be raised from the dead, at the resurrection that will accompany Christ’s second return. The service this week is about celebrating that Christ’s death brings new life – for eternity.
