Pathfinder Meeting

The first Pathfinder Club meeting of the year will be on Saturday 23rd February – the venue is the church hall. The first session will include games, rope work – Clove hitch and Reef knot. There will be a music speciality for the Pathfinders, and for the younger ones (Adventurers) there will be work on an award in craft.

  • Where?: Loch Lomond Youth Hostel.
  • Age Limit: all who are 13 + are invited to come along! The places available will be allocated on a 1st come, 1st served basis!
  • Deadlines: 14th February – Application Form and Deposit; 14th March – Balance. Please note, application forms and deposits to go to the local youth leaders. (Those of you who do not attend a church in Scotland \ Ireland \ Wales, but wish to come along, please send your applications and the money to ‘J Marcel Ghioalda, 27 Castlelaw Crescent, Abernethy, PH2 9LP’. Cheques should be made out to the ‘Scottish Mission SDA Youth Account.’)
  • Speakers:

o Pr. Robert Hynes – teens; Theme: Jump In!
o Pr. Grenville Kent – young adults; Theme: The Big Questions!

  • Cost: each Mission will make its own financial arrangements, but for the Scottish Mission youth, the cost is GBP 80 per person (accommodation and food included).

A hillwalk is planned for Sunday 13th January 8:30am – 5:30pm.

Without doubt the best Christmas film of all time – Come and see Frank Capra’s classic film ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ – come and enjoy some refreshments too.

Family Christmas service for everyone to enjoy ~ with carols and songs, stories and children…….come along and hear the real story of Christmas ~ and maybe even a mince pie or two!

The plan was to go for Cairngorm, Ben Mheadhoin and Ben MacDui but it looks like the weather on the east side of Scotland isn’t going to be good.
So…

It seems more sensible to head west, where we should get better conditions earlier rather than later. Depending on the updated forecast on Saturday night, Mike is proposing that we head for Ben Cruachan or maybe even Garbh Bheinn on the far side of Loch Linnhe (a cracking good horseshoe with stupendous views and a wee scramble)
